GENERAL NOTES:
The film was shot in 1979 with final pickup shoots featuring the original cast in 1980 (the year the director-approved theatrical cut was copyrighted) but not released until 1984 theatrically in the United States (IMDb lists a 1983 Canadian television premiere). The gypsy flashback footage was not part of either shoot.
There are three cuts of the film:
- The director-approved theatrical cut (79 minutes).
- The international cut that lost some footage from the theatrical cut while adding an extended flashback sequence featuring gypsies played by adult actors Arcadia Lake, Eric Edwards and John Leslie. The filmmakers claim no involvement with this shoot (95 minutes)
- The 2019 Arrow Video composite cut which combines footage from both of the above versions for the ultimate Prey Fan Experience (103 minutes). -
