The Image DVD has English subtitles and both versions of the dungeon scene, the Italian DVD includes the Italian cut as an extra which features the prologue from the Spanish version but cut from the French versions, and the French disc has the original French covered version as well as an interview.
GENERAL NOTES:
The film exists in three versions:
- the Spanish cut which includes a prologue in which two women are murdered by a masked assassin (~90 mins at 24fps/~86 mins at 25fps);
- the original French release which lacks the prologue and features the covered, shorter version of the dungeon murder (~96 mins at 24fps/~92 mins at 25fps);
- and the reissue version "Le Sadique" which features the version of the dungeon murder with nudity (~100 mins at 24fps/~96 mins at 25 fps)
Franco remade the film as Daughter of Dracula but the similarities between the two were muddled when it was turned into a vampire film during production. -
CUTS:
- R1 America- Image Entertainment - No cuts - reissue version with the nude dungeon scene (95:13)
- R2 France- Aventi - No cuts - original French theatrical version (91:53 PAL) with the covered dungeon murder.
- R2 Italy- Sinister Film - No cuts - includes the French reissue version with the uncovered dungeon scene (95:51 PAL) and the Italian version (85:51 PAL) with the prologue missing from the French cuts (footage of which is in the French theatrical trailer) and an even shorter version of the covered dungeon scene (which may be how it appeared in the Spanish version).
