SILENT TRIGGER (First Viewing, YouTube) - 6/10
I don't mind watching a film that takes place mostly inside a skyscraper but this is rather 'silent' for an action film and too meandering to be called a thriller.
NINJA IN THE KILLING FIELD aka KILLER NINJAS (First Viewing, YouTube) - 3/10
One of Godfrey Ho's ninja movies that made him notorious. Richard Harrison doesn't star in it. There is no Garfield phone that the lead actor uses, no Asian man sporting a blonde wig and no ninja with an eyeliner to be seen throughout the tedious 90-minute run time.
While watching this film, you can sense that you are watching two films spliced into one: one played by unknown Thai actors and the other which involves ninja scenes played by some random Caucasian actors. Badly scripted, acted and dubbed, this film has it all.
I was thinking of buying the German very limited edition big hard boxes solely because of its attractive cover. Now, I realize the cover can't make up for the feature itself, which words can't describe.

NINJA DRAGON (First Viewing, YouTube) - 5/10
Right now I'm in the mood for Godfrey Ho's ninja movies
This time it's NINJA DRAGON (1986), still the cut-and-pasted two-in-one Z-movie but at least Richard Harrison gets more screen time and fighting scenes. I give it a 5 as the narrative is more coherent than KILLER NINJAS. Besides, Richard Harrison is in it.
THE SUPER NINJA aka NINJA FORCE (First Viewing, YouTube) - 6.5/10
This one didn't come from Godfrey Ho. Produced in 1984 during the ninja movie fad, this Taiwanese production stars martial artist Alexander Lo. A fun B kung fu movie with lots of exciting fight scenes.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier last night. Excellent film, easily one of the top 3 Marvel entries along with Iron Man and Thor.

Watched Mulholland Drive on my R1 DVD last night. Unbearably smeary mess of a transfer which made my eyes hurt, this one is definitely getting upgraded as soon as I get the chance.

591. Free Birds (2013, Netflix) - 6/10
592. Authors Anonymous (2014, Netflix) - 3/10
593. Sharknado 2 (2014, UK Blu) - Had to review the DVD last week, and now the Blu-ray + 2 commentaries, so watched it 3 times today. Thankfully, listening to commentaries is the ideal time to also do other stuff. 5/10
594. Extras: The Special (2007, UK Blu) - Wouldn't classify this feature length special as a movie, but Letterboxd does, so hey ho.
595. Blue Crush (2002, Finnish Blu) - 6/10

Re: What did you watch today?
Kick-Ass 2 (TV)
I don't really remember everything from the first movie except that it made me laugh all the way, this one was no different 8/10
Swamp Thing (US Blu)
Barely/Below average "horror" movie. Special effects are quite outdated, and this rather a "minor" Craven film, but far from total disaster, especially with Adrienne Barbeau and with a "decent" story - 5/10.
Prisoners (TV)
I always liked this kind of story : someone disappears without a trace and people are trying to figure out what happened. This one was really good, with desperate characters and a rather twisted plot. There are many "prisoners" in this movie… 8/10
La Chasse (French Blu)
I had wanted to watch this for a while, this is my second movie of Tomas Vinterberg, after the awesome "Festen". Story of how a "small lie" can have terrible consequences in the wrong environment, great analysis of society and impressive Mads Mikkelsen - 8/10.
Alabama Monroe (TV)
Unforgettable story of love and death that will tear you apart, with a more than great soundtrack - 8/10.
About Time (TV)
Refreshing mix of SF/comedy/drama, great actors, beautiful music, authentic emotions, a beautiful lesson of life - 7/10.
Los Ultimos Dias (TV)
Spanish movie about a virus that prevents people from getting out. Not tremendous, but worth a watch - 6/10.
The Factory (TV)
Average thriller about missing girls and a serial killer - 6/10.
Insomnia (US)
I had only seen the US remake. This one is really different, very "cold", sickly mood… I liked it! 8/10
Gone Girl (Theater)
Another masterpiece from Fincher : a story with many twists and turns, many "underlying" topics (power of media, couple relations…). So far, the best movie I've seen in theaters in 2014 (but I don't go that often) - 9/10.
Diana (TV)
Pretty much disappointing, since everything is centered on a love story Diana had after she got separated from Charles. So much more could have been said… 5/10
Only God Forgives (US Blu)
This is a movie I would have to watch again to get a better opinion. It can seem pretty straight forward and pointless, but several clues indicate there's more than meets the eye. Extraordinary visuals, and Kristin Scott Thomas as never seen before! Definitely not a movie for everyone - 7/10.
L'Hypnotiseur (TV)
Good Swedish thriller, but it lacks something to be better : the scenario is not so much of a surprise, directing is not exceptional… - 7/10
Rush (TV)
Yes! Really the kind of movie I like, with action and drama perfectly mixed (and god knows I've never been fond of Formula 1) - 8/10.
Slayers: Season 4 - Revolution (US Blu)
Still OK, but really not as good as the first seasons - 7/10.
